Article 3/b of the statutes of the Fondazione di Studi di Storia dell’Arte Roberto Longhi outlines one of the main purposes of the Foundation, granting “fellowships and awards” for young scholars to be trained as new ‘connoisseurs’ exactly the way Roberto Longhi did during his lifetime. Each year the Foundation grants a series of fellowships to Italian and foreign scholars selected on the basis of a competition.
Since 1971 300 young scholars have been granted a fellowship by the Longhi Foundation. Many of them now work in renowned museums or are professors in important Italian and foreign universities.
